Michelle Milburn

“I paint humourous nostalgic scenes from the terraced streets of days gone by filled with cheeky curvy women and their long-suffering fellas. It’s a rich source of inspiration where the British culture and community spirit shine through to provide endless ideas to be tweaked into a new fun painting.

I work in acrylic on canvas, a mediumm which is immediate and fast to work with, allowing spontaneous changes to a piece as ideas form and the humour emerges.

I use situations observed from everyday life, reminiscenes from older generations and a healthy dash of imagination to bring these paintings together, they are so much fun to produce and it’s so rewarding when you hear giggles from the gallery as people connect with them.

I am really excited to be showing this new collection of paintings with the Tony Huggins-Haig Gallery and hope to bring a few stifled giggles over the Border.”
