The Tony Huggins-Haig Gallery established in 2004, can be found at the heart of the historic Scottish Borders town of Kelso. The building, which dates to 1608, has been lovingly refurbished, transforming the interior into a modern exhibition space to be proud of.
The gallery specialises in modern and contemporary art, displaying innovative works created by its owner Tony Huggins-Haig and an outstanding group of nationally and internationally renowned artists. As a gallery recognised for championing artistic innovation, it is now firmly established as one of the country’s most significant cultural venues.
Within the five purpose built gallery spaces, all with seating, a state-of-the-art ‘mood’ lighting system perfectly accentuates the colour and texture of the exhibits. Dark oak flooring has added warmth, with new cornices and plastered walls creating a traditional look, while, in striking contrast, the beautifully displayed artwork has added a contemporary touch. Together they have produced relaxed and comfortable surroundings, the perfect environment for the viewing and purchase of artwork.
The gallery has over 1000 inspiring and engaging artworks to browse and enjoy. They range from paintings and sculptures to metalwork, woodwork, glasswork, hand-crafted furniture, textiles, pens and other bespoke gifts.
Throughout the year, the gallery welcomes the finest artists to the Scottish Borders to participate in a rich programme of exhibitions and other cultural events. As well as hosting regular exhibitions, the gallery also takes part in art fairs in the UK and further afield.
The Tony Huggins-Haig Gallery is motivated by a powerful sense of ‘putting back into society’ and as such are committed to building strong community links by operating a number of creative activities and charitable events designed to be a catalyst for positive change.

Since we opened the gallery in 2004 we have found that most people buy artwork because they fall in love with the artwork or a particular artists work. The piece of artwork then heads out of the gallery door and away with our amazing collectors. Heading home with them to becomes part of their own collections and identities. Sometimes we have collectors who come in to buy art works as investment pieces for the future.
